Malton School - The War Memorial

In 2015 a new War Memorial was unveiled in Malton School commemorating those students and staff of the school who died during both World Wars. It is made of sycamore by Steve Fearnley, and is sited in the new East Wing Reception area.

A memorial already existed recalling those who died in the Great War, but it was a dark, bronze plaque , becoming ever more difficult to read. t seemed very appropriate therefore, in the 70th anniversary year of the ending of the second world war, to recognise the sacrifice of these people by installing a new memorial that would incorporate all the former students who gave their lives in both world wars.
